Jenni searched for her new home for 2 years. Her requirements were simple: she was looking for a secure, low maintenance lock up and go home. It needed to have a wonderful kitchen, a covered patio, and off-street parking and be close to her son’s school. The home she bought ticked only two of those boxes, but together we turned it into the home of her dreams.
The house was stripped back to its bones, removing layers of poorly thought out additions and scary faux marble paint effects and an astonishingly large amount of black and white tiles. Walls were demolished, opening up the house to let light in and improve the flow.
Downstairs, we removed the 1980’s conservatory and storeroom in the front, creating a new canvas to work from. We built a covered patio and porch, both practical as well as adding depth and detail. And added off-street parking. Inside, the tiny cloakroom was enlarged, and the wall between the kitchen and dining room demolished, allowing the two rooms to flow into each other.
Upstairs, clever re-invention of spaces saw a long passage turned into a dreamy dressing room with joinery specially designed to hold Jenni’s extensive shoe collection. Vertical space from the double volume dining room was stolen to add a shower to the compact second bathroom. Two small bedrooms became one, and a balcony spanning the length of the house draws you out to enjoy the mountain view.
